OL97: Error During Conversion of Lotus Organizer Files

SYMPTOMS

When converting files to Outlook 97 from Lotus Organizer, you may receive the following error message:
An error has occurred in the Lotus Organizer translator while trying to attach a translator. OLE program start failed. The Lotus Organizer 2.1 translator was unable to start the program needed to access the file. Lotus Organizer 2.1 must be installed in order to use Lotus Organizer 2.1 files.

CAUSE

There are two possible conditions that may cause this error:
  • You do not have the Lotus Organizer program installed on your computer.
  • The file being imported is damaged.

RESOLUTION

  1. To resolve the first condition, install the Lotus Organizer program files from their original disk(s).
  2. To resolve the second condition, open the file in Lotus Organizer and save it with a new name. Import the new file into Outlook.
