SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Chat, when you attempt to play a sound by clicking Play Sound or by pressing CTRL+B, you are not given the option to browse the hard disk for a wave file (.wav).

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, you can specify additional folders to search for .wav files when you click Play Sound or press CTRL+B. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Options on the View menu, and then click the Settings tab.
  2. In the Sound Search Path box, specify multiple folders in the search path by separating each folder with a semicolon (;). For example, if you want Microsoft Chat to list .wav files from both the C:\Windows folder and the C:\Windows\Media folder, type the following:
    c:\windows;c:\windows\media

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

APPLIES TO
  • Microsoft Chat 2.1
  • Microsoft Chat 2.0
