Article ID: 166035 - Last Review: November 22, 2000 - Revision: 1.0 OFF97: Web Find Fast Sorts Results Incorrectly by File NameThis article was previously published under Q166035 SYMPTOMS
When you use the Microsoft Office Web Find Fast indexer to return Web
search results to your Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) page, the results
are sorted incorrectly.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when you choose to sort your Microsoft Office Web Find
Fast search results by file name. Other sort options, such as relevance,
saved date, and size, work correctly.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
MORE INFORMATION
The Microsoft Office Web Find Fast indexer is available on the Microsoft
Office 97 Professional Edition for Windows compact disc in the Srvpack
folder. This utility allows you to index multiple document locations on
your Web server. You can combine all of these locations into one index,
which makes searching for any file on your Web server as easy as clicking
on your browser. These results are then returned to the Web page that is generated by Microsoft Office Web Find Fast. The links that are returned function as either Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) or universal naming convention (UNC) file references. You can customize all HTML pages to use the features of Microsoft Office Web Find Fast, including sorting by relevance, file name, save date, and size.
