XFOR: Extended Characters in Attached Filenames Are Not Preserved When Sent to Macintosh Clients

SYMPTOMS

When a Microsoft Exchange Windows 95 client sends a message to a Macintosh user through the Microsoft Exchange AppleTalk connector, with extended ASCII characters in the filename of an attachment, these characters are not preserved when the message is received on the Macintosh computer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server, version 4.0. This problem has been corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Microsoft Exchange Server version 4.0.
