Kids Plus!: Internet Settings Remain After Protect It! Removed

SUMMARY

Microsoft Plus! For Kids, Protect It!, allows you to set Internet Restrictions using the Content Advisor.

To set Internet Restrictions in Protect It!, do the following:
  1. Click the Start button, point to Programs, click Microsoft Kids, and then click Protect It!
  2. Enter your Protect It! password.
  3. Once you are in Protect It!, click Settings under Internet Ratings for All Family Members.
  4. Internet Ratings Content Advisor requires a password; enter the password.
  5. Set the rating as desired.
Internet Setting Restrictions will remain global for each user on the computer.

NOTE: After you remove Protect It!, the Internet Settings you set through Protect It! will remain if you are using Internet Explorer, version 3.01 or later.

MORE INFORMATION

Internet Explorer, version 3.01 or later, also uses the Content Advisor for Internet Settings security. If you do not wish to keep Internet Ratings after removing Protect It!, disable Internet Restrictions in Protect It! prior to removing the program.

If you have already removed Protect It!, but you still have Internet Ratings in effect, you may disable them through Internet Explorer by doing the following:
  1. Launch Internet Explorer.
  2. From the View menu, click Options.
  3. Click the Security tab.
  4. Select Disable Ratings.
  5. Enter your Internet Ratings Content Advisor password.
This will disable Internet Ratings through Content Advisor.
