SUMMARY

Microsoft Access 97 is available in two versions: a retail version and an upgrade version. The retail version will run on any computer that meets the system requirements for Microsoft Access 97. The upgrade version sells at a reduced price, and requires that you have one of the qualifying competitive products listed in this article in addition to meeting the system requirements for Microsoft Access 97.

To install an upgrade version of Microsoft Access 97, you must own one of the following programs:

  Microsoft Excel 97 & Word 97 for Alpha systems
  Microsoft Office (all versions for Windows and Windows NT Workstation )
  Microsoft Office Small Business Edition
  Microsoft Works (all versions for Windows)
  Microsoft Access (1.0 or later)
  Microsoft FoxPro for MS-DOS (2.0 or later)
  Microsoft FoxPro for Windows (2.5 or later)
  Microsoft Visual FoxPro for Windows (3.0)
