XL97: Can't Tile Windows with Macro If a Window Is Minimized

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel 97, when you run a Visual Basic for Applications macro that tiles the visible workbook windows by using a line of code similar to either of the following

   Application.Windows.Arrange xlArrangeStyleTiled

-or-

   Application.Windows.Arrange xlTiled

workbook windows may not be tiled or rearranged in any way. Note that you do not receive any error messages.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if one or more visible workbook windows are minimized.

NOTE: This problem does not occur in earlier versions of Microsoft Excel.

You can also cascade the visible workbook windows.

To arrange workbook windows, use the following line of code:

   Application.Windows.Arrange <constant>

In this line of code, <constant> can be one of the following four different values.

    Constant                   Definition
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------

   xlArrangeStyleCascade      Cascade the visible windows.

   xlArrangeStyleHorizontal   Arrange the visible windows horizontally.

   xlArrangeStyleVertical     Arrange the visible windows vertically.

   xlArrangeStyleTiled        Tile the visible windows (a combination of
                              horizontal and vertical arrangement).

Click the Minimize button in the upper-right corner of the window. -or-
Click the Control menu in the upper-left corner of the window, and then click Minimize. -or-
Click the window and press CTRL+F9.
