When you drag a shortcut of a graphics file supported by Microsoft
Photo Editor, for example a GIF file, from the desktop to the Photo Editor
window, you receive the following error message:
Unknown File Format
WORKAROUND
To open a graphic file by dragging it to the Microsoft Photo Editor window,
drag the actual file, not a shortcut to that file.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem does not occur in Office 2000. MORE INFORMATION
The Microsoft Photo Editor is a standalone product that is installed by a
complete installation of Microsoft Office 97. Microsoft Photo Editor allows
you to customize graphic images you create, scan, or open.
