OL97: Invalid Page Fault Opening Outlook Notes MAPI Folder

When you attempt to open the Microsoft Outlook 97 Notes, Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) folder, you may receive an invalid page fault or your system may stop responding.

You may encounter this problem if you are using an extension that makes a GetSelectionItem programming call in response to its OnSelectionChange message.

You may be able to work around this problem by using the Outlook Add-in Manager to turn off any unnecessary extensions until you isolate the problem extension.

To turn off an extension in Outlook do the following:

1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2. Click the General tab, then click Add-In Manager.
3. Click to clear an extension, then click OK twice.
4. On the File menu, click Exit and Log Off.

When you restart Outlook, the extension will be disabled.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 97 for Windows. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Outlook 97 version 8.02 for Windows.
