OL97: Viewing Other's Schedule+ Calendar Uses Outlook Calendar

If you use Schedule+ as your primary calendar, but also made entries in your Microsoft Outlook 97 Calendar, people who view your calendar may see your Outlook Calendar entries instead of your Schedule+ Calendar entries.

If you have an Outlook Calendar and another user has permission to read it, Outlook opens the Calendar. If your Calendar folder does not exist, or the other user does not have access to it, Outlook attempts to open the Schedule+ Calendar.

You can work around this problem by removing the other user's access in the Calendar Permissions dialog box. Follow these steps to remove permissions to your Calendar folder:

1. On the View menu, click Folder List.
2. With your right mouse button, click the Calendar folder and on the shortcut menu, click Properties.
3. Click the Permissions tab.
4. In the Name list, click to select any other users and then click Remove to remove their permissions.
5. Click OK.

This access behavior is different in version 8.02. In Outlook 8.02 if you enable the Schedule+ option, Outlook removes shared access to your Microsoft Exchange Server Calendar folder and if present, removes Calendar delegation. With the Schedule+ option enabled, the delegate setup dialog box disables access to the Calendar folder. As a result when you use Schedule+ as your primary calendar, another user viewing your calendar will see your Schedule+ Calendar.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 97 for Windows. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Outlook 97 version 8.02 for Windows.
