In Microsoft Excel 97, if you point to Send To on the File menu, and then
click Mail Recipient, you may receive the following error messages:
Microsoft Exchange <no error message -- dialog box is empty except for exclamation point icon>
-and/or-
Microsoft Excel General mail failure. Quit Microsoft Excel, restart the mail system, and try again. CAUSE
This problem may occur if the following conditions are true:

To resolve this problem, set up an offline folder file. To do this, use the
following steps:

listed at the beginning of this article.
MORE INFORMATION
This problem occurs only if you do not set up an offline folder file on
your computer. This is a necessary step if you are running Microsoft
Exchange or Microsoft Outlook 97 and you want to run mail offline.
