When you try to import data from Intuit Quickbooks for Windows
versions 3.1 and 4.0, or from Intuit Quickbooks Pro for Windows version
4.0, you may receive the following error messages.
The second error message appears if a quotation mark ("), an apostrophe
('), an open bracket ([), or a close bracket (]) is used in
any of the list element items: Chart Of Accounts, Items, or Class List.
This problem may also occur if any of the list element items is more than
32 characters in length.
Open the file in the version of Intuit Quickbooks in which the file was
created.
On the Lists menu, click Chart Of Accounts.
In the Name and Type columns, check for:
A quotation mark ("), apostrophe ('), open square bracket ([), or
close square bracket (]) character in the description for the Chart
Of Accounts name or type.
A description for the Chart Of Accounts name or type that exceeds 32
characters in length.
To change any of the items, click Edit, modify the name or type, and
then click OK.
On the Lists menu, click Items.
In the Name, Description, Type, and Account columns, check for:
A quotation mark ("), apostrophe ('), open square bracket ([), or
close square bracket (]) character in the description of the item
name, description, type, or account.
A description for the item name, description, type, or account that
exceeds 32 characters in length.
To change any of the items, click Edit, modify the item name,
description, type, or account, and then click OK.
On the Lists menu, click Classes.
In the Name column, check for the following:
A quotation mark ("), apostrophe ('), open square bracket ([), or
close square bracket (]) character in the description of the Classes
name.
A description for the Classes name that exceeds 32 characters in
length.
To change any of the items, click Edit, modify the Class name,
and then click OK.
On the File menu, click Close Company.
On the File menu, click Exit.
