FIX: VB5 IDE Causes Exception Violation During Unload of Form

SYMPTOMS

During unloading of a form, the following error occurs:
"VB5.EXE Exception: Access Violation (0x00000005), Address: 0x005805DB"

CAUSE

The problem is caused when an MFC-based control is within a Container Control and that MFC control's Visible property is set to False.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This bug has been fixed in Visual Studio 97 Service Pack 2.
