When you open a Microsoft Word 6.x or 7.x document in Word 97, dot or dash
borders on inline (non-floating) objects are lost.
NOTE: This problem does not occur with borders on floating objects. Inline objects include paragraphs, tables, frames, and inline pictures. Floating objects include drawing objects and text boxes. RESOLUTION
To resolve the problem described in this article, obtain
and install the latest Microsoft Word 97 update from
the following Microsoft Web site:

IMPORTANT NOTE: Microsoft Word 97 post-service
release fixes are cumulative. The latest update contains
all of the fixes since Service Release 2. If you install
the latest update for Word 97, you do not need to install

After opening the document in Word 97, reapply the dot or dash border. To
