When you uninstall Internet Explorer, some of the following options may
revert to the Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 default
settings:
Windows 95
- Browse folders by using a single window that changes as you open
each folder
- Show all files
- Display the full MS-DOS path in the title bar
- Hide MS-DOS file extensions for file types that are registered
Windows NT
- Browse folders by using a single window that changes as you open
each folder
- Show all files
- Display the full path in the title bar
- Hide file extensions for known file types
- Display compressed files and folders with alternate color
To work around this issue, change these options manually to the settings
you want to use. To do so, follow these steps:

each folder

- On the View tab, in the Hidden Files box, click one of the following
options:
- Show All Files
- Hide Files Of These Types
- On the View tab, click one or both of the following check boxes to
select or clear them:
- Display the full MS-DOS path in the title bar
- Hide MS-DOS file extensions for file types that are registered
- Click OK.
Windows NT
- Double-click My Computer, and then click Options on the View menu.
- On the Folder tab, click one of the following options:
- Browse folders by using a single window that changes as you open
each folder
- Browse folders using a seperate window for each folder
- On the View tab, in the Hidden Files box, click one of the following
options:
- Show All Files
- Hide Files Of These Types
- On the View tab, click one or both of the following check boxes to
select or clear them:
- Display the full path in the title bar
