SYMPTOMS

On a system that has insufficient disk space for the Small Business Server Client setup, the client application installation may cause a blank, blue screen with the symbol "L2" in the top left corner of the screen on Windows 95. Approximately 70 MB of free space are required for installation and temporary files during the setup of the Windows 95 Small Business Server client.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Comctl32.dll file cannot be copied while the operating system is running. The only way to remove this screen is to restart the system and rerun the client setup.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Small Business Server Version 4.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
