How to set up or disable your financial institution's online services to work with Money

This article describes how to set up or disable online services such as Online Statement and Online Bill Payment in Microsoft Money.

Note If you are using an older version of Money, confirm with your financial institution which versions of Money they support. Many financial institutions do not support online services in older versions of Money.

You may have to disable online services if one of the following conditions is true:

• You want to stop using online services.
• You have to stop and then restart online services because of some changes in the services that are provided by your financial institution.

Online services for Money 2004 or older versions may no longer be available or supported by your financial institutions. You may still be able to download statements from your financial institution’s Web site. Money supports statements in OFX or in QIF format.

Money can determine the type of online services support that are provided by most financial Institutions and set it up appropriately.

Note If you are creating a new MSN BillPay account, you will be unable to import it into Microsoft Money 2005 or Microsoft Money 2006 because of changes in the account setup process. In Money 2007 or later versions, you can add new MSN BillPay accounts.

Set up online services

1. See your online service sign-up information.
   
   Note You will receive this information from your bank or from your broker after you sign up to use their online service.
2. On the Microsoft Home page, in the navigation pane, click Account list.
3. In the navigation pane, click Manage Online Services.
4. Find the financial institution that you want to set up with online services, and then click Set up online services next to the institution's name.
5. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to set up the account together with an online service.

Disable online services

The following steps assume that no active Automatic Payments (Apays) or pending Electronic Payments (Epays) remain in the accounts that you want to disable. If any Apays or Epays are still pending, you must cancel them before you continue.

To disable online services in Money, follow these steps:

1. To avoid unnecessary service charges, contact your financial institution to cancel your online services through Money if you do not plan to re-enable these services in Money.
2. On the Microsoft Money Home page, in the navigation pane, click Account List.
   
   Note In Money 2004, Account List appears at the top of the page.
3. In the navigation pane, click Manage Online Services.
   
   Note In Money 2004, click Online Services Manager.
4. Click the name of the financial institution that you want to call.
5. Under View contact information, click the name of the financial institution that you want to call.
6. When you are finished speaking with your financial institution, click Done.
7. Under the Use online services section, click Stop using online services.
8. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to disable the online services.

Update contact information for your financial institution

When you set up your financial institutions in Money, Money will fill in most of the contact information for the financial institutions.

To verify or change the information for your financial institution, follow these steps:

1. On the Microsoft Money Home page, in the navigation pane, click Account List.
2. Click the account that you want to connect to.
3. In the navigation pane of the Account Register, click Change Account Setting.
4. Under the Account number box, click Update Contact Info for this bank or broker.
5. In the Internet Address box, type the Web site address for your financial institution, and then click Done.
6. Click Done again to return to the account register screen.

If you want to visit or download a statement from your financial Institution’s Web site, follow these steps:

1. In the navigation pane of the Account Register, click Connect to Bank.
2. Click Go to Bank Name Web site, where Bank Name is the name of the financial institution that you want to connect to.
   
   Money opens the financial institution's Web page.
3. Log on to your account and export or download information from the financial institution to the computer.

The steps to export financial data depend on the data format that the financial institution uses.
