XADM: User and Group Permissions Granted Automatically

SYMPTOMS

If you create a new user or local group in Microsoft Windows NT Server and then configure the user or group as a View-Only Administrator at the site level, the user or group may be granted Full Control permissions for the Microsoft Exchange registry keys in the Windows NT registry. Then, if you grant the user or group Read permissions, the user or group may be granted Special Access permissions with Full Control.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server version 4.0. This problem has been corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Microsoft Exchange Server version 4.0.
