SYMPTOMS

Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS) Update for Windows NT 4.0 and Microsoft Proxy Server version 2.0 will not run on the same computer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Routing and Remote Access Update for Windows NT Server version 4.0. This problem was corrected in the Routing & Remote Access Service Hotfix Update and in Windows NT Service Pack 4 and later. Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS) Update for Windows NT 4.0 can be used along with Microsoft Proxy Server to provide a secure enterprise Internetworking solution.

In order to run RRAS and Proxy Server version 2.0 on the same computer, you must install a required RRAS hotfix. This hotfix resolves issues associated with reliable, secure integration between RRAS and Proxy Server.
