In Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition, the Allow Fast Saves option is
turned on by default. This article describes how to use the Allow Fast
Saves option.
MORE INFORMATION
The Allow Fast Saves option allows Word to save documents quickly by
appending changes to the end of a file, instead of rewriting the entire
file.
To turn the Allow Fast Saves option on and off, follow these steps:
You may want to periodically turn off this setting and do a full save on a document, to rewrite the entire file rather than have Word continually append changes to the end of the file. After which, you can reenable the Allow Fast Saves option. For more information about fast saves, please see the following articles in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 111277
