MousInfo is a diagnostic tool that shows you if the computer is able
to receive pointing device commands. This article describes how to use
the MousInfo tool included with the IntelliPoint software.

To run the MousInfo tool, click Start, click Run, type one of the following
commands in the Open box, and then press ENTER:
C:\Msinput\Mouse\Mousinfo.exe Note If you installed the IntelliPoint software in a different folder,
use the path to that folder when you type the command.
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Hardware\Mouse\Mousinfo.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft IntelliPoint\Mousinfo.exe The MousInfo tool uses the following indicators for each function of the pointing device. Indicator Function --------------------------------------------------------------- Wheel Representation of wheel movement Scroll Scroll setting for the wheel X Position Horizontal position of the pointer Y Position Vertical position of the pointer Last Mouse Message The last mouse message received by Windows When you roll the wheel, the graphic representation of the wheel should move up or down. When you move the pointing device, the value of the X Position and the Y Position should change depending on the pointer's position. The numbers that you see depend on your screen resolution. The Scroll value can be any number from 1 to 32767. A value of "Scrn" represents the "Scroll one screen at a time" setting. The Last Mouse Message can have any of the following values. These values and their meanings are listed in the table below, where <X> is either L, M, or R. Message Meaning ------------------------------------------------------------ WM_<X>BUTTONUP Left, middle, or right button is released WM_<X>BUTTONDOWN Left, middle, or right button is pressed WM_MOUSEWHEEL IntelliMouse wheel is rolled WM_MOUSEMOVE IntelliMouse is moved WM_NCMOUSEMOVE IntelliMouse cursor has changed The Version command displays the version of the Pointer, Driver, and the IntelliPoint software that is installed. It also includes the build number of the software. The Registry Devices command displays a list of pointing devices that are installed on the computer. The Scrolling command displays the Classification, Window Type, and Window Class for the window that currently has the focus.
