Summary

In Microsoft Publisher, you can mirror (flip) an object or text so that you can transfer the image or text to a T-shirt. This article provides two methods you can use to transfer an image or text.

More information

The Flip Horizontal feature is unavailable for raster graphics in Microsoft Publisher. This feature is only available for objects that are created in Microsoft Publisher, such as oval, box, and custom shapes.

Method 1: Use Microsoft Draw to Flip Images Horizontally

To use Microsoft Draw to flip images horizontally, follow these steps:
  1. Select the clip art object.
  2. On the Edit menu, click Copy.
  3. On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and click New Drawing.
  4. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
  5. On the Draw menu, click Ungroup. You should receive a message similar to the following:
This is an imported object, not a group. If you convert it to a Microsoft Drawing, embedded data or linking information will be lost. Do you want to convert the object?
Click Yes to convert the object.
  6. On the Draw menu, click Group.
  7. On the Draw menu, point to Rotate or Flip, and click Flip Horizontal.
  8. Click on your publication to return to Publisher.
You now have a flipped clip art image.

Method 2: Use Microsoft WordArt to Flip Text Horizontally

To use Microsoft WordArt to flip text horizontally, follow these steps:
  1. On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and click New Drawing.
  2. On the Insert menu, click WordArt.
  3. Click a WordArt style, and click OK.
  4. Type the text you want and click OK.
  5. On the Draw menu, point to Rotate or Flip, and click Flip Horizontal.
  6. Click on your publication to return to Publisher.
You now have a flipped text image.

For bitmap images, such as photos, use a bitmap editing program like Microsoft Paint, Corel Photo Paint, Microsoft Photo Editor, Microsoft Imager, and Adobe Photoshop. For information about how to flip an image in any of these programs, refer to the program documentation or Help.
