SYMPTOMS

When you try to access the Windows NT 4.0 Briefcase folder after you sent a message with an attachment from the Briefcase folder, the following error message may appear:

The Briefcase is in use by another computer. Close the Briefcase on that
computer, and then try again.

The briefcase folder will not be accessible until you exit the Exchange client for Windows NT.

WORKAROUND

Open the Briefcase and drag the document into a new message rather than using the Insert File option from the Exchange client menu bar.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange Windows NT client, versions 4.0 and 5.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
