SYMPTOMS

After removing Microsoft Outlook 98, when you run Microsoft Office 97 Setup and select Add/Remove, Outlook 97 appears to be installed.

RESOLUTION

To restore Outlook 97, run the Office 97 Setup. In Maintenance Mode Setup, click Reinstall.

The information for the installed Office components is stored in the Off97Pro.stf file.

NOTE: The file name is Off97Std.stf if you install the Standard version rather than the Professional version of Office.

Since Outlook 97 and Outlook 98 share many of the same file names, if you remove one version, the other version will not function properly.
