SYMPTOMS

After installing Microsoft Outlook 98, when you run Microsoft Office 97 Setup and select Add/Remove, Microsoft Outlook 97 appears to be installed.

The information for the installed Office components is stored in the Off97Pro.stf file. Outlook 98 does not use this file for installation. The file name is, Off97Std.stf if you install the Standard version rather than the Professional version of Office.

MORE INFORMATION

If you install Outlook 97 with Office 97, when you run Office 97 Setup you will see the choice for Outlook 97 is selected. If you did not install Outlook 97 previously, you will see a choice for Microsoft Outlook and it will not be selected.

It is not recommended that you make any changes to the installation options of Outlook within Office 97 Setup once Microsoft Outlook 98 has been installed.
