SYMPTOMS

When you accept a file transfer from another chat room member, you may receive the following message:
Connection failed.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur when both a network adapter and a dial-up adapter are listed in Network Properties.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, download the updated Microsoft Chat 2.1a from the following Microsoft Web site:
http://webchat.msn.com/ (http://webchat.msn.com/)
NOTE: Because the Microsoft Web site is regularly updated, the site address may change without notice. If this occurs, link to the Microsoft home page at the following address:
http://www.microsoft.com/ (http://www.microsoft.com/)

MORE INFORMATION

If either computer has a network adapter and a dial-up adapter, only the primary adapter is used to transfer the file. If this fails, no attempt is made to negotiate with the secondary adapter.
