WD98: VBA Code Lost After Converting to Another Document Format

This article was previously published under Q184153

SYMPTOMS

When you save a Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition document that contains Visual Basic for Applications code to another document format, such as Rich-Text Format (RTF), you receive the following warning:
All macros in this document will be lost if the document is saved in <Selected Document Format>. Do you want to save in this format anyway?

CAUSE

None of the converters that ship with Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition support the conversion of Visual Basic code. If you need to save a document in a format other than Word 98, make sure you have a backup copy of your Word 98 document before you convert it.
