WD98: ACT! 2.8 Hangs (Stops Responding) with Word Documents

SYMPTOMS

When you start ACT! 2.8 and attempt to insert a document with the, "Word 6 Document" option, ACT! will hang (stop responding). Additionally, when you attempt to use any of the ACT! Word 6.0 templates in Word 98 Macintosh Edition, you may receive the following error in Word 98:
Compile error in hidden module: MergeACTData

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, contact Symantec and obtain a later version of ACT! Later versions of this product are designed to work with Word 98 Macintosh Edition.

STATUS

This problem occurs when you use Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition and ACT! 2.8.

ACT! 2.8 is designed to work with Word 6.x for the purpose of writing letters, memos, and faxes. Act! 2.8 is not designed for use with Word 98.
