XCLN: Outlook Deployment Kit (ODK) Availability

The Microsoft Outlook 98 Deployment Kit (ODK) is available through Microsoft's Select, Open, MSDN (Microsoft Developer Network), and Microsoft Certified Partners channels. The ODK is not available for Web download or retail purchase; however, all of the documentation for the ODK is posted on the Web.

The ODK provides the tools and information administrators need to effectively deploy and support Microsoft Outlook 98. The ODK supports installing and customizing Outlook, optimizing features and functions, and understanding how Outlook interacts with other mail systems and Microsoft products.

The ODK includes:

• Comprehensive documentation for administrators who are deploying and administering Outlook.
• The Outlook 98 Deployment Wizard, a powerful graphical tool that allows administrators to easily customize, deploy, and maintain Outlook from a central location.
• Companion tools, utilities, and sample files that save time.

The ODK is available through the following:

• Microsoft Certified Partner Full subscription (Microsoft Certified Partner CD packages by mail)
• MCSD Full subscription (same as above MCSD package)
• Open License. If the ODK is obtained using an Open license, customers can contact the place they purchased their Exchange Server software from to obtain it or they can call Microsoft Worldwide Fulfillment at 800-248-0655.
• The ODK was released with Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 1.
  
  Outlook 98 packages built with ODK from Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 1 CD install Outlook 98 with 128-bit encryption.
  
  The CD labeled 0998 Part No. X03-91035 contains the following disclaimer:
  Unlawful to export from the United States or Canada without an approved Department of Commerce export license.

The ODK was designed around Exchange Server and can not be obtained unless the customer has Exchange Server or a subscription to the above services.
