SYMPTOMS

Shortly after opening Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition and clicking the mouse several times, Word may quit with a Type 1 error.

Sonic Systems has reported that this incompatibility exists only with version 1.3 and earlier of the driver. They are no longer shipping these units.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you are using Sonic Ethernet 10/100 driver version 1.3 and earlier.

RESOLUTION

You will need to contact Sonic Systems to obtain version 1.4 of their Ethernet driver. Standard 10 megabytes per second (MBps) PCI card users will also need to install this driver; the DLPI from the Fast Ethernet card is included in the standard Ethernet drivers.
