SYMPTOMS

If your monitor turns off while the ScanDisk tool is running, the ScanDisk tool may quit when you press a key to resume your monitor.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if both of the following conditions exist:
  • You press SPACEBAR or ENTER to resume your monitor.
  • The ScanDisk tool is the active program.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, press a key other than SPACEBAR or ENTER to resume your monitor.

MORE INFORMATION

You can use the Power Management tool in Control Panel to specify the length of time you want your computer to be idle before your monitor turns off. If your monitor turns off while the ScanDisk tool is running and is the active program, pressing SPACEBAR or ENTER resumes your monitor and quits the ScanDisk tool because the Cancel button is the active button.
