XL97: Must Restart to Change the Format Painter Mouse Pointer

SYMPTOMS

When you change the "Provide Feedback with Animation" option, you do not see the correct Format Painter mouse pointer in Microsoft Excel.

CAUSE

This option change does not affect the Format Painter mouse pointer until the next time you start Microsoft Excel.

WORKAROUND

Restart Microsoft Excel after you change the "Provide Feedback with Animation" option. To change the appearance of the Format Painter mouse pointer, follow these steps:

On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Edit tab.
Click in the "Provide feedback with Animation" check box. Click OK.
Quit Microsoft Excel.
Restart Microsoft Excel.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows.
