SYMPTOMS

After you perform a clean install of Windows 98 (by installing to an empty hard disk or a new folder), you may be unable to use the hardware acceleration features of your 3DFX adapter.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because Windows 98 does not provide Glide drivers. Programs that are written to utilize the 3DFX chip set may require additional support from Glide drivers to work correctly.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, download and then install the latest 3DFX Glide drivers (Getvgr.exe) from your 3DFX adapter manufacturer's Web site.
