Macromedia Director 4.x Does Not Start

SYMPTOMS

When you install Macromedia Director version 4.x and then attempt to run the program, the screen may flash briefly, but the program may not start.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you try to run Director 4.x on a hard disk with more than 2 gigabytes (GB) of free space.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, install Director on a hard disk with less than 2 GB of free space.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 95 OEM Service Release version 2 and Microsoft Windows 98.
