This article was previously published under Q187995
Expand all | Collapse all

SYMPTOMS

The size of a Tag Image File Format (TIFF) picture opened in a third-party graphics product may be much smaller than the same TIFF picture opened in one of the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

NOTE: This behavior may also occur with a Portable Network Graphic (PNG) file.

CAUSE

The TIFF graphic filter incorrectly translates graphics that are exported from some graphics applications.

WORKAROUND

Convert the image to another graphic format (for example, Macintosh Picture (PICT) or Encapsulated Postscript (EPS) with a graphic converter application. The picture in the new graphic format can then be inserted into one of the applications listed at the beginning of this article.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
