SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to run the Windows 98 Uninstall program (Uninstal.exe), the uninstall process may quit after your drives are checked.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the Winundo.dat file is located on a small computer system interface (SCSI) drive that requires real-mode drivers, and the drivers are not loaded. As a result, Uninstal.exe cannot obtain the uninstall information from the Winundo.dat file.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, load the real-mode drivers for the SCSI drive, verify that you can gain access to the drive on which the Winundo.dat file is located, and then run the Uninstal.exe file located in the Windows\Command folder.
