Prop of Notification Catalog Fails After Deletes Are Made

SYMPTOMS

On a notification catalog, if an attempt is made to prop the catalog after deletes have been made, the prop of the catalog fails.

A notification catalog is built by accepting information from a notification source. This notification source is a software component that monitors content and informs Search when content has changed.

CAUSE

The deletes are not being committed to the catalog.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, apply the latest Site Server 3.0 service pack.

To work around this problem, perform a full rebuild (crawl) of the catalog.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Site Server version 3.0. This problem has been corrected in the latest U.S. service pack for Microsoft Site Server version 3.0.
