Problems in Wininet.dll When Connecting to Secure Web Site with 128-Bit Encryption

SYMPTOMS

When you use Internet Explorer to connect to a secure Web site with 128-bit encryption, you may receive the following error message or one similar to it:

   IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in module WININET.DLL at
   0137:7023d550.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain and install Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 2. You can obtain Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 2 from the following Microsoft Web site:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Internet Explorer version 4.01.
