When monitoring a remote system and querying the costly counters, specifically the Long Image Name counter, the remote system will stop responding with an access violation in Winlogon. On a local monitoring application, querying this counter object will cause the application to stop responding.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Windows NT 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition Service Pack 4.
