BUG: SQL Setup Does Not Change Security and Network Support Options with SVS

SYMPTOMS

Changes made to the Set Security Options and Change Network Support options of SQL Server Setup are not recognized by SQL Server when SQL Server is set up as a Symmetric Virtual Server (SVS). Additionally, changes made to security with SQL Enterprise Manager also fail to work in this scenario.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do the following:
  1. Remove the SVS configuration.
  2. Use SQL Server Setup to change your security options or network support as desired.
  3. Set up SVS again.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server, Enterprise Edition, version 6.5.
