SUMMARY

Dividing a site into multiple subWebs makes administrative and authoring tasks, such as changing themes, publishing changes, and even finding specific files, easier. In addition, if you have a large Web site, you can use subwebs to keep track of each author's work by assigning each author their own subWeb. This article describes how to divide a large root Web into several smaller subwebs.

MORE INFORMATION

To divide a large root Web into several smaller subwebs, follow these steps:
  1. On the File menu, point to New, and then click FrontPage Web.
  2. In the New FrontPage Web dialog box, click Empty Web and then click OK.
  3. In the Empty Web Template dialog box, perform the following:
    1. In the Web Server or File Location" box, type the name of your Web server.

NOTE: If the Web server is the computer you are currently working on, type localhost.
    2. In the "Name of New FrontPage Web" box, type the name of the subweb.
    3. Click OK.
  4. On the File menu, click Import.
  5. In the "Import File to FrontPage Web" dialog box, click Add File.
  6. In the "Add File to Import List" dialog box, click Browse and locate your root Web.

The following table shows the typical locations for the root Web of common Web servers. The actual location may vary depending on the installation options of FrontPage and of the Web Server.
          Web Server Location
          --------------------------------------------------------------------
