Bhnetb.dll Leaks Memory in Winlogon.exe Process when Using Network Monitor to Trace Remotely

SYMPTOMS

When you use Network Monitor to take a network trace remotely by means of the NMAGENT, you may find that memory in the Winlogon.exe process continues to increase. This may result in problems such as RPC Busy, sluggish system response, or the computer may stop responding (hang).

CAUSE

There is a problem with Bhnetb.dll where memory is allocated but not de- allocated.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0 or Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Windows NT 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition Service Pack 4.
