In Microsoft Project 98, when you use the Analyze_Timescaled_Data macro to export data to Microsoft Excel, you may see any of the following symptoms when you view the data in Microsoft Excel:
Symptom 1: Cost or Work Values Are Greater Than ExpectedCost or work values for a task, resource or assignment may be greater than expected.
For example, a resource with 8h work and $1/hr cost will have the following values in Microsoft Excel:
Symptom 2: Costs Are Displayed in Scientific NotationCosts are displayed in scientific notation (for example, 1E+07.00000) and are not included in totals.
Symptom 3: Costs Are Rounded to an Incorrect ValueMost commonly, only decimal values of costs are rounded to an incorrect value.
Symptom 4: Start and Finish times are not exportedOnly start and finish dates are exported; start and finish times are not exported.
These behaviors may occur when you run the Analyze_Timescaled_Data macro that ships with Microsoft Project 98 and any of the following conditions are true.
Condition for Symptom 1: Cost or Work Values Are Greater Than ExpectedCost or work values for a task, resource or assignment may be greater than expected when the Digit Group Symbol is a period (.) and the Decimal Symbol is a comma (,) under Regional Settings in Control Panel.
Condition for Symptom 2: Costs Are Displayed in Scientific NotationCost values greater than or equal to 9,999,999.50 in any of the following fields may be displayed in scientific notation (for example, 1E+07.00000) and are not included in Totals:
Condition for Symptom 3: Costs Are Rounded to an Incorrect ValueValues greater than or equal to $999,999.00 in the following fields may be rounded to an incorrect value:
Condition for symptom 4: Start and Finish Times Are Not ExportedStart and finish values are rounded to the nearest whole day.
To correct symptoms 1-3, follow these steps:
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
This problem was corrected in Microsoft Project 98 for Windows, Service Release 1 (SR-1).
