This article describes the Compatibility options that are available in Microsoft Word 7.0.
NOTE: To change the Compatibility options, click Options on the Tools menu, and then click the Compatibility tab.
Font SubstitutionDisplays fonts used in the active document that are not available on your system by using fonts that are available on your system.
Recommended Options ForSelects the word-processing program you want to set options for. Selected options affect only the display of the document while you work with it in Word. The document is not changed permanently.

Print body text before 7.0 Prints the main text layer before header/footer the Header/Footer layer, which allows for the process of PostScript codes in the text layer the same way Word 5.x for the Macintosh does. (This functionality is the reverse of the default order.) Print colors as black 6.0 7.0 Prints all colors as black, on noncolor printers instead of using grayscale (different shades of gray) when you use a printer that does not print color. DefaultSaves the compatibility options you selected as the new default in the active template. Word will display every new document based on the active template with the new compatibility options you select.
