SUMMARY

Microsoft has made available an add-in for Microsoft PowerPoint that clones the active presentation. This cloning process is similar to inserting slides from a file or using a copy and paste operation in Slide Sorter view. You can use this add-in to create a corruption-free copy of a presentation that you suspect may be corrupted.

The Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation Cloning add-in is available as a self-extracting archive in the Microsoft Download Center. To install this add-in, download the Cloneme.exe file from the Microsoft Download Center and then double-click the Cloneme.exe file to start the Setup program.

When you double-click the Cloneme.exe file, the following file is extracted to the folder you choose:
CloneMe.ppa
Microsoft recommends that you place this file in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office folder. To set up the add-in, follow these steps:
  1. Start Microsoft PowerPoint. If you see the startup dialog box, click Cancel.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Add-Ins.
  3. Click Add New.
  4. Select the CloneMe.ppa file and click OK.
To use the add-in, click Clone Presentation on the Tools menu.

NOTE: The presentation you want to clone must be open for you to clone it. If the file is so corrupted that it cannot be opened, you cannot use this add-in.
