SYMPTOMS

When you run the Virus Search add-in for Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition, your computer stops responding.

When you run the Virus Search add-in for Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition, you may be prompted to enter a password. When you type your password into the Password dialog box and click OK, your computer stops responding.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the Virus Search add-in scans a workbook that contains a reference to another workbook.

WORKAROUND

If you are prompted for a password, you can click Cancel to work around the problem. When you do this, the Virus Search add-in skips the file.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition.
