When you use the Microsoft Office 97 SR-2 Patch to update an installation
of Microsoft Office 97 SR-1, you may receive the following error message:
Microsoft Office SR-2 Microsoft Office 97 SR-2 completed unsuccessfully. See the log file in the Microsoft Office installation directory for details. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Setup\97sr2_0.log
Lifting up resource from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\
<TMP File> to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\<Program File> fail sr2 patch fail The following text appears at the end of the log file:
restored C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\<TMP File> to
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\<Program File> Backup has finished. The sr2 patch fails The sr2 patch has failed CAUSE
This problem may occur if any of the files that are being updated by the SR-
2 Patch are set as read-only or stored in a location that you do not have
full access (for example, a folder on a computer running Microsoft Windows
NT). In this case, the SR-2 Patch is unable to update the files, and the SR-
2 Patch fails.
RESOLUTION
To correct this problem, make sure that none of the files that are being
updated by the SR-2 Patch are read-only. To do this, follow these steps:
