SUMMARY

This article describes how to change your Microsoft Outlook 2000 installation from "Internet Mail Only" to "Corporate Workgroup" and from "Corporate Workgroup" to "Internet Mail Only." It also describes how to switch from "No E-mail" to "Internet Mail Only."

It is sometimes necessary to use these steps after Outlook has been initially setup or upgraded, and the initial default installation type was not the one that you wanted. For additional information about what criteria Setup uses to select the default installation type, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

MORE INFORMATION

Conversion from Internet Mail Only (IMO) to Corporate Workgroup (CW) is done from within the Outlook application. Unlike previous versions of Microsoft Outlook, you no longer need to use the setup program to make the change.

NOTE: When you switch from the Internet Mail Only to the Corporate Workgroup installation of Outlook, the information that was contained in your old Internet Messaging Access Protocol (IMAP) account is not transferred to your new installation. Change the Installation Type from No E-mail to Internet Mail Only

The No E-mail and Internet Mail Only installations are essentially the same, with the exception that the Internet Mail Only configuration contains mail account information. If you setup Outlook for No E-mail you can switch to Internet Mail Only by simply adding a mail account and if needed dragging the Inbox from the Folder List to the Outlook Bar. Simply using the Reconfigure Mail Support, as described above, to switch to No E-mail does not change the About Microsoft Outlook description unless you also add account information. Use these steps to switch from No E-mail to Internet Mail Only:
1.On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
2.Click Add, and then click Mail and follow the prompts to fill in your e-mail account information.
3.When you are finished entering your account information, click Close to close the Internet Accounts dialog.
4.On the View menu, click Folder List, and then drag the Inbox folder to the Outlook Bar.
Once you complete the steps to add account information, the About Microsoft Outlook box should display Internet Mail Only.
