NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate Workgroup/Other option. This option allows you to use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, on the Help Menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Corporate" if you have the Corporate Workgroup installation.
When you start Microsoft Outlook 2000 or initially connect to your MindSpring Internet Mail server, you may receive the following error message:
Following this message, you may notice that sent mail does not leave your Outbox.
You could not be logged on to mail server: servername. Be sure your account information is accurate. If this problem persists, contact your Internet Service Provider.
This problem may be caused by incorrect settings in the Internet Mail service properties. Follow these steps to troubleshoot this problem:
Incorrect Settings Using the Internet E-mail Service
MindSpring's Internet Mail system uses one server for receipt of messages and a second server for sending messages. In the properties of the Internet Mail service, the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) server box identifies the mail server through which you send mail. The Incoming Mail (POP) server box identifies the server from which you receive mail.
