SUMMARY

In general, Visual InterDev 6.0 was not compatible with the Internet Explorer 5.0 Beta. These issues have been addressed with the shipping ("non-beta") version of Internet Explorer 5. However, you must install Internet Explorer without Compatibility Mode turned on. Problems with the Compatibility Mode include HTML Editor anomalies in Visual InterDev such as missing tabs for Design, Source, and Preview.

MORE INFORMATION

Before installing the shipping version of Internet Explorer 5, it is necessary to remove any beta versions present on the system. Instructions to do so can be found on in the following article in the Microsoft Knolwedge Base:

Once Internet Explorer 5.0 beta is removed, Internet Explorer 5 can be installed using any of the options except Compatibility Mode. Compatibility mode is turned on under the Custom Install screen under the Advanced button.

If you have already installed Internet Explorer 5, you can determine if you are using this setting with the following steps:
  1. In Internet Explorer, click About Internet Explorer on the Help menu.
  2. If the version is reported as Side-by-Side Mode, you are using Compatibility mode.
More information on Compatibility Mode can be found iin the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
